Five new and luxurious delivery rooms will be dedicated during Chol HaMoed Sukkot, after investing approximately 1.3 million Dollars, mainly obtained from friends of the hospital from abroad. “Bikur Cholim” Hospital, which has come out of a two-year long crisis, is now opening 5 new labour and delivery rooms, one of the most luxurious in the country and which has the most advanced medical equipment in the field. Dr. Rephael Pollack, the Medical Director of the hospital and a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, said that amongst other things, the labour and delivery rooms have been fitted with wireless monitors which allow the women giving birth more freedom of movement, without being continually connected to machines. The labour and delivery rooms have been built during the last year. The renovations completely changed the face of these delivery rooms which have not been renovated for 20 years. The architect who supervised the project, Mr. Motti Bodek, planned the rooms in such a way as to look more like hotel rooms than hospital wards. The assumption is that birth is a natural process which doesn’t necessarily demand any medical or surgical intervention. Therefore, the beautiful and aesthetic nature of the room creates a homely atmosphere, greatly contributing to ease the pain of the woman in labour. In the near future, each labour and delivery room will be fitted with a stereo system and a personal computer in order to make the woman’s stay in the labour and delivery room more pleasant, as she sometimes needs to stay there for many hours. The renovations took approximately a year. The work was made more difficult due to the complexity of working on a building that is over 100 years old. Additionally, the delivery rooms continued to operate during the course of the year, with maximum effort made to ensure cleanliness and quiet, so as not to disturb the mothers rest. We are now opening a hospital room (only one at this stage) for women after giving birth, as an experiment, next to the labour and delivery rooms. It is one of the most luxurious and modern rooms in the country. Much thought and money have been invested in this room in order to maximize the comfort and care given to the mother. In this room, the baby can stay with the mother (rooming-in service). A safe has been fitted into the room as well as a small private fridge for the mother’s exclusive use as well as many other specially designed features. The General Director of the Hospital, Mr.Bari Bar-Zion said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to improve the service of the hospital, with the medical level in the hospital continually improving, particularly in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department”. Mr. Bar-Zion said that the labour and delivery rooms are the flagship of “Bikur Cholim” Hospital and as the Director of the hospital, “I feel an obligation to continue to upgrade the other departments with the improvement in the medical level.” said the Director of the Hospital. Professor Chaim Yaffe, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department said: “In addition to the high medical level and the unique nursing level that the hospital has, I can now with great gratification say that the aesthetic standard of our labour and delivery rooms is one of the best in the country.” For more details" Shimon Malka Hospital Spokesman: 054-6718228 |
